Just Food For Dogs issued a voluntary recall in 2018 due to potential Listeria contamination of green beans used in three of their dog food recipes. However, Just Food for Cats food have never been recalled.
How It Works?
We began by going to Just Food For Dogs website to see what they have to offer under the “Just Cats” section. According to their website they currently offer only one food recipe for cats which is a low-carbohydrate, high-protein diet for adult cats of all breeds. They also offer cat treats.
You can choose to make a one time purchase or sign up for auto ship and have your cat’s food delivered every 1 to 8 weeks at your choosing. You can change or cancel your auto ship at any time. You may also be able to pick up food if you live near one of their manufacturing locations and save 5% off your purchase.
Once you set up an account you will be able to add profiles for your pets and information on their veterinarians if you want.
Just Food For Cats does not offer free shipping until you spend $100.
After placing an order I received an email confirmation as well as a FedEx tracking number. You can also log into your account to check your shipping status.
The package arrived on my doorstep less than a week later. The Fresh Frozen Just Cats meals came neatly packaged in recyclable, vacuum sealed packaging and each holds several days worth of meals. My cats ate Just Food for Cats Just Cats Fish & Chicken for a week, once per day. Because cats do not need to be transitioned like dogs, they started on this food immediately in place of their old food. This has never been an issue for my cats but some more picky cats may need old food mixed with the new.
Both my cats eat in the evening and were given between a 1/4 and 1/2 cup at meal time. According to Just Food for Cats if your cat is between 2 and 10 pounds you can feed him .25 to .05 cups per day. Since both my cats fit in that weight group that is what they got.
Both cats loved this recipe but neither cleared the bowl or licked it clean. This maybe because this recipe was much drier than the wet food they have been eating recently. I did try adding a little water to it and they seemed to eat more of it.
Once the packaging is open you will need to store it in a container. Not only is this packaging not easy to open but it is not resealable in any way.

It really is. Their recipes are all made with human grade ingredients that meet the nutritional requirements established by the AAFCO and every recipe is formulated with USDA ingredients and comes from natural sources.
